Publish Date: 03/04/2024

This open lesson provides insights from a school's project incorporating generative AI tools across ICT, Visual Arts and English classes. The speaker begins with the background on the project, which involved Grade 7 students exploring AI applications through aligned lesson plans, including an introduction to generative AI technologies and their applications, developing digital artwork skills using Procreate, crafting descriptive writing pieces in English, generating creative writing prompts with AI tools, developing an AI-enhanced digital story, sourcing AI-generated art references, and exploring ethical considerations around AI development and use.

Participants of this seminar will understand :

  1. The value of facilitating interdisciplinary planning by aligning learning goals, identifying common concepts, and selecting suitable educational technologies;
  2. How gaining hands-on experience with edtech tools better positioned us to instruct students; and
  3. The impact of hands-on, practical activities in allowing students to build skills by directly engaging with relevant technologies.
