With the support of Ministry of Education of Israeli Government, Hong Kong Education City, alumni network and also some Israeli enterprises in innovation technology, Ying Wa College organised the Israel educational tour on innovation technology and STEM education in late January 2020.

Being dubbed a ‘Start-Up Nation’, in sync with its geographical and military challenges, Israel has been striving for survival and solving its fair share of problems with creativity and innovations. Israel has become a leading country in science and innovative technology, and rightfully so, nowadays. The government policies on innovation entrepreneurship and STEM education, as well as the practices in the ‘start-up’ field and related promotional endeavours in the educational sector, work hand in hand in building up the start-up nation.

The model of innovation technology development and education system in Israel have given us valuable insights into STEM education. The keys to promote STEM education are the awareness of and the purposeful provision of opportunities in solving problems in real-life situations. This model of STEM education can be implemented not only in Hong Kong on a territory-wide level, but also in individual schools.
