Hi. World Book Day is on April 23rd. This is the day
where all around the world, authors and illustrators
and books are being celebrated. We're one in Hong Kong
to be part of that celebration. So we're making an appeal
for the whole Hong Kong community to make time for reading,
and that hopefully will happen on April 23rd. And we're
hoping the whole of Hong Kong will find 10 minutes to
do some reading, anywhere, any time during that day,
any sort of reading. But that's just a part of what
we're after. That's a symbolic gesture if you like.
What we want is the schools to make time for reading.
They are a very important place where students can read,
read for interest, and have a quiet time when they can
engage in something that interests them. We know that
learning to read and reading to learn is so important
for students as they progress through their life, and
indeed for all of us. We should never ever stop reading.
What we hope is that parents in particular will spend
some time sharing their reading with their children
at home. And their teachers will find some time at school
to do some reading. So the whole theme builds around
World Book Day but not just on World Book Day is to
make time for reading. |

Farm Flu is a rhyming story
about a little boy living with his mother at a
farm. One day, his mother was out of town and
at the same time, the animals at their farm got
the flu one by one. The little boy took care of
the animals just like what his mother would do
when he was sick. What a busy day taking care
of the animals! The next day, when the boy woke
up, he found that all animals have recovered.
But then it was the animals' turn to take care
of the little boy…… |
