Objectives

Science concepts is related to our everyday life. With Twig, not only abstract science concepts can be explained in a fun way, it can also satisfy students’ curiosity and help them connect science concepts with daily life! Encourage your students to log in to Twig and stand a chance of getting awarded! Details:

Challenges

  • Students can follow the 'Steps' below and complete the following assignments: watch the Films and complete the Quizzes
  • Teachers may encourage students to join, and to nominate for school awards
  • Students may further submit a Project (details below) to opt for the student award

  • The 2 schools with the highest participating rate of students who complete all the assignments, including:
    • Complete watching the 6 assigned films
    • Complete the quizzes
  • 6-month free trial of Twig Experiments and Twig Maths

Best Performance Awards for Schools

  • The 2 schools in which students complete all the assignments, including:
    • Complete watching the 6 assigned films
    • Complete the quizzes, with the highest average score
    • Award will go to the 2 schools with the highest participating rate of students if a tie occurs
  • 6-month free trial of Twig Experiments and Twig Maths

Best Performance Award for Student

  • 1 awardee
  • Watch 6 assigned Films, complete the Quizzes, and
  • With the information of the film and its inspiration, compose a brief project related to environmental protection. The format of the project can be a postcard/poster/image/video (file size no more than 100MB) or a letter/an essay (with no more than 200 words in Chinese or English)
  • Students can submit 1 project or more by filling in another time.
  • The projects would be evaluated by Twig's professional team according to creativity, idea and language/artistic sense
  • Award will go to the student with the highest total scores (average quiz scores plus project scores, each makes up 50% of the total scores)

Steps

  1. Go to https://www.twig-world.com/. Click 'LOG IN' at the top right hand corner. On the login page, enter username/email and password, then click 'log in'.
  2. Click the notification button on the top right hand corner and then choose 'Summer Challenge of Twig 2018'. Watch the 6 assigned Films and complete the Quizzes. The 6 assigned Films include: Bioaccumulation in Food Chains, Lichen: Indicator Species, Tropical Rainforests, Recycling Plastics, Leaded and Unleaded Petrol and Reducing Radiation Risk.
  3. To compete for the Best Performance Award for Student, click HERE to submit your project.

* The system will only record the score of first attempt for submission more than once.
