After this workshop, participants will be able to understand the characteristics of gifted learners in English. Multiple identification means, assessment task design, use of assessment to inform the design and implementation of English pull-out programmes, and its evaluation at secondary level will be discussed to suit the needs of the participants. Hands-on techniques to help participants design and run English pull-out enrichment programmes will be practised.

Secondary ENGLISH LANGUAGE and LITERATURE IN ENGLISH Panel Heads and Teachers
This is an extension of Part 1 of the seminars entitled ¡§Seminar Series for Middle Managers: Catering for Learner Diversity under the New Academic Structure¡¨ held during 19 November to 3 December 2010. While Part 1 focusses on the general approaches to, and common practices of, catering for learner diversity, with the four NSS core subjects presented as cases to illustrate the key issues, this subject sharing session will address key concerns about implementing the English Language curriculum and subject-specific strategies for catering for learner diversity. The final part of the session will be devoted to exploring diversified strategies for the learning and teaching of Literature in English. Frontline teachers¡¦ experiences will be shared and the rationale behind will be discussed.

In support of the fine-tuned MOI arrangements in secondary schools starting from the 2010/11 school year with Secondary One level, the Education Bureau (EDB) has pledged to conduct sharing sessions to promote and share good practices among schools and teachers at half-yearly intervals. In this connection, the captioned sharing session will be the third of these half-yearly events following Knowledge Fair 2009 held in November 2009 and Reading Fair 2010 in April 2010.
To promote and share good practices among schools and teachers on the implementation of the fine-tuning of the Medium of Instruction arrangements for secondary schools .
