The 6- hour* and 15-hour courses consist of 2 and 5 three-hour teaching modules respectively and cover the following areas: ¡E developing a deeper understanding of the philosophy of assessment for learning ¡E building an assessment for learning culture in the classroom and school ¡E developing a deeper understanding of the content and structure of SBA ¡E integrating SBA (Parts A and B) into the curriculum ¡E designing SBA assessment tasks (Parts A and B) ¡E planning and implementing SBA (Parts A and B) in the classroom ¡E giving appropriate feedback to students ¡E catering for different student and school needs ¡E assessing samples and standardising SBA scores

This workshop caters to teachers who are beginning to explore teaching with poems. It aims at introducing structural elements of, and developing appreciation for, a variety of poems. Workshop participants will: • acquire working definitions of common poetic devices, e.g. simile, metaphor, personification; • analyse the effects of poetic devices; • observe the demonstration of tasks using poems for literacy/language development; and • obtain resource materials for teaching with poems.

learn how the development of Corpus Linguistics impacts the teaching & learning of vocabulary; and • learn to use online vocabulary teaching & learning tools to improve students' lexical competence. Using online computer software, participants will have an opportunity to explore: - corpuses - frequency based wordlists - word level tests - frequency and range tests - concordances and concordancers - a dictator - a cloze test builder
Participants will also have opportunities to discuss the pedagogical applications of the online vocabulary teaching and learning tools.
