To facilitate teachers to provide students with timely support in developing their basic competencies (BC), EDB Curriculum Development Institute (CDI) has developed a variety of learning and teaching support resources in relation to the Basic Competency Assessment (Student Assessment).

These learning and teaching support resources are designed based on four language skills, including Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Each resource covers various items such as interactive games, activity sheets, PowerPoint for classroom use.

Problems frequently encountered by students in achieving the basic competency are identified. Suggested follow-up actions or learning and teaching activities/materials are also provided for teachers’ reference or use. The list of possible problems is for teachers’ reference only and is not meant to be exhaustive or prescriptive. Teachers are encouraged to consider the evidence of learning collected by various means to help them understand students’ performance against the basic competencies, and decide on what follow-up actions they will take to improve students’ learning. They can always adapt the learning and teaching activities/materials or develop their own to cater for the needs, interests and abilities of their students.

The resources are located in various platforms including the Small Campus (suitable for primary students) and English Campus (suitable for secondary students) and HKEdCity Resources Depository (suitable for teachers).

Small Campus - English Learning Station

There are 30 interactive activities for P.1-3 and P.4-6 students to develop their basic competencies. The activities are categorized into listening, reading and writing skills.

English Campus - Learning Resources for Basic Competency Assessment (BCA)

There are 17 learning resources for S.1-3 students to develop their basic competencies on integrated language skills (including listening, speaking, reading and writing skills).

HKEdCity Resources Depository

There are 55 resources to facilitate teachers to develop students' basic competencies, including 16 resources for Key Stage 1, 22 resources for Key Stage 2 and 17 resources for Key Stage 3. With the help of these resources, teachers can gain more ideas about the strategies to develop students' basic competencies.
