  • Work out the meaning of an unknown word or expression by using visual clues, context and knowledge of the world
  • Recognize the format and language features of a variety of text types, e.g. poems


Brief Description:
A poem about a girl who is sick and cannot go to school

User Tips:

  • Before reading, students can read the picture and guess what the topic is about.
  • While reading, draw students' attention to the vocabulary about illnesses and the rhyming pairs in the poem.
  • For less able students, they can click the underlined words for the meanings.
  • After reading, students can list all the illnesses mentioned in the poem.

  • Locate or provide specific information in response to simple instructions or questions
