 Dear Principal,
"English in the Air"
- A Pilot Project to Promote the Teaching and Learning of English through Television Programmes among Secondary School Teachers and Students

I refer to my letter of 28 January 2003 enclosing copies of sections 44 and 45 of the Copyright Ordinance (Cap.528) regarding educational use of broadcast programmes. Clause (1)(a) of section 44 requires that an acknowledgement of authorship or other creative effort contained in the work recorded be incorporated in the recording made by the educational establishment.

Based on the advice we have sought from the Intellectual Property Department, an acknowledgement along the following lines should be incorporated in the recording made:

¡§This TV programme was broadcast by the Television Broadcasts Limited on Pearl Channel on [date]. The authorship of this TV programme and other creative efforts contained in the TV programme, details of which are set out in the credits appearing in the beginning and the end of the broadcast programme, are hereby acknowledged.¡¨

Hope this information would be useful to you. If you have any questions or need any further information, please contact Miss Louisa Yam of SCOLAR Support Unit at 2892 6558.

Yours sincerely

Subrina Chow
Secretary, SCOLAR
