A TV Review on Lizzie McGuire

As I first watched "Lizzie McGuire", I immediately felt that I was really her "identical twin".

Being an unpopular eighth-grade schoolgirl, Lizzie just hopes to survive middle school. However, Her over-protective mother and nosey brother Matt make Lizzie's life more miserable. Also, Lizzie has to worry about many other things in her life, including friendship, career, popularity, love, etc. But by learning from the people around her, Lizzie has changed from a childish, irresponsible girl into a mature, thoughtful teenager during this series.

Lizzie and the people around her taught me so many things! Being a teenager like Lizzie, we both experienced the same things in a teenager's life. I didn't want my mother to think me as a little girl; I hate my brother for coming my room without my permission; and I disliked the arrogant pupils at school. But after watching each episode, I realized that these "hateful" acts of the people around me are actually another way of showing their love and friendliness for me. Actually, they care a lot about me.

Moreover, I learned from Lizzie that one should always be thoughtful. You should always care about others. Although that person may be mean to you, you should always help them whenever they need your help. Like when Kate's 14th year old birthday party was messed up by her cousin, Lizzie immediately called her mum for help, ignoring the possibility for being grounded. What a faithful friend!

Despite from learning so much from Lizzie, I can also learn more about fashion from the resources provided by English in the Air! I can also revise words and phrases from each episode! I really benefit greatly from the website!

Lizzie really is a good example for me! From now on, I promised myself that I will try to be a more thoughtful girl, be obedient to my parents, and care about my friends always!

I have been watching Lizzie McGuire on pearl for a long time , but ever since I"ve discovered "English in the air", it adds much more joy and excitement to every episode.

Just like every other average girl, Lizzie started Junior high as a seventh grader (form 1) who always had family, friends and boys on her mind. And because I"m about the same age as her, there are a lot of things that I totally feel for her, or even share the same problems that we have to face through. Lizzie is cool, smart and best of all, she"s got style! Yet a question remained unanswered, why isn"t she popular?

In high school, popularity is privilege and what Lizzie had desired to possess all her life. To stride through corridors in school like prima donna, and to gain recognition and respect from everyone. Other than being ordinary, Lizzie nevertheless stresses through many other problems in life.

From each episode, I found that if I pay more attention to the monologues, there"s much more that we can learn. In addition, I can clearly see how Lizzie solves all her problems in a snap because of how she see things from an optimistic point of view and she gets everything off her chest the moment something bothers her. Eventually, she again learns to cope with things in life. On the contrary, I over emphasize on my own dignity when socializing and made everything accurately according to norms. But as I reflect to Lizzie"s attitude to every obstacle, finally realize that I ought to let all my feelings show and quit being so selfish. For every time I confront a challenge, I should and will learn from it because "The wisest mind has something yet to learn."

Seeing Lizzie, Miranda and Gordon muddle through teens, just like you and me, suffering pain and experiencing joy, reminds me of an old saying "variety being the spice of life." Life is not working out the way they have planned, though, the trio supports each other shoulder-to-shoulder through all times. Their friend spirit deeply touches me. Also, those fashion crisis, romantic encounters and trust emergency the trio has had lead the audiences into a splash of friendship.

Enlightening lessons among the episodes keep me watching this programme; For instance, my grandpa used to say, "Enjoyment is to have a heart to heart chat with someone you used to loathe." After seeing the reunion of Lizzie and her enemy, Kate, I now more fully understand what he was trying to express. "Lizzie McGuire" helps me linger on today's American English. Moreover, I gain so much fun through the remarkable glimpse of American teen life.

Unlike my lack of fashion, Lizzie's outrageous outfits show us that clothes are one way of telling the world who we are. Compared to the neat uniforms Hong Kong students wear, fashion shows are widely displayed on American campuses. In my opinion, I believe outfits can reflect the essence of a person, although, waves of dressing free may develop levels between students. I suggest that we debate whether students should wear uniforms on-line in order to inspire teens of what democracy stands for.

"English in the air" is charming and accessible! It fits the needs of secondary students with various resources that enable you to strengthen your English skills. So come and join Lizzie McGuire to explore junior high wherein the adventure continues. Watch the programme, adopt Lizzie's message and participate in the games on air, you'll soon find that English really can work wonders for you.
