Synopsis

Jason is on his way to France to learn about acting. He'll be living on a farm with 16 people for 24 hours a day. Everyone wants to be a star! Can Jason be as funny as Mr Bean? Will the French understand him?...
To be continued...

This is what happened to Jason. How much of it did you remember?

Jason remembers his first time on Road Scholars.
He made a good friend and spent most of his money on some gold necklaces.
He finds out that the necklaces are gold-plated and he paid too much for them.
He is going to France to learn about Commedia dell'arte and stay on a farm.
The farm has a lot of animals, including peacocks.
A barn has been turned into a studio and has a wooden floor so they can jump about and act on it.
Jason is happy to be Il Capitano, a character who thinks he is a great soldier and very handsome, but really is ugly and scared.
The students make their own masks.
They travel by bus to Avignon to do a performance in the old town square.
They camp in the fields and cook dinner over a campfire.

In the square, they make their backdrop and paint their faces white.

There are a lot of shows, so they do a parade to get people interested in their show.

They try to speak French, but they can't, and the people don't understand what they are saying.

The students go and see a professional Commedia dell'arte group, and feel that they can learn a lot from them.

Everyone is sad to leave, and they tie string to each other, then cut it and take a little home to remind them of their experience.

Interesting facts about Jason

Jason is an 18-year-old student studying theatre in Toronto. He went to the Galapagos Islands for his first trip on Road Scholars and loved it. When he goes back to his small town home, he enjoys motorbiking, scuba-diving, fishing and rebuilding boats with his brother.

You can find out more about Jason at the Road Scholars website.
