Grade-12 student Moya McAlister takes some time away
from her performing arts high school in Toronto to host
this episode of Road Scholars on her trip to London
and Oxford. She hopes to find a way to make up her mind
on whether she really wants to be an actor or a journalist.
She also hopes to pick up a British accent while getting
great ideas to write for the teen magazine Verve she's
working for.
She shows us all the typical sights in London: Down
a London Underground train (or the tube) station, up
the London Eye for the great views, the Big Ben clock
tower, the very popular Trafalgar Square and the pigeons,
Buckingham Palace and a guard itching ... While in London,
she learns to find her way to the reconstructed Globe
Theatre to see Shakespeare's King Lear.
Outside London, she gets to see the Roman baths in
Bath. She gets to see the mystical Stonehenge and joins
the others to wonder about why it's there and who built
it. In Oxford, she goes punting and gets to learn about
the ghost in her room.
One of the things she's able to make up her mind about
on her trip is the cafeteria food: She doesn't like
it at all.
