After
some success in collecting food to end world hunger,
Lizzie decides to save the Earth. She takes it
very seriously. She starts doing that at home.
She also wants her parents, friends & teachers
to join her.
Gordo
wants to win at the school's Science Olympics.
He takes it very seriously. For a week, he spends
all his time on it.
Matt
is Hall Monitor. He writes up people who fail
to follow the rules. He takes it very seriously,
and he won't let anyone off.
|
| Lizzie |
|
To
save the planet, Lizzie separates garbage into
plastic, paper & glass, and puts them into differently
labelled containers. She becomes a vegetarian.
She donates canned food, clothes & her mattress
to the homeless shelter.
She
wants her mother to stop wasting water. She wants
Miranda to stop wearing leather. She wants her
teacher to stop wasting paper. They think Lizzie
is taking it too seriously. To them, Lizzie should
relax and take a rest.

| Miranda |
|
Miranda
joins Lizzie to save the Earth. But she doesn't
see why they should also save dolphins, pick through
smelly garbage, stop eating dead animals, and
not wear leather.
Miranda
is worried about Lizzie. Lizzie says Miranda should
be worried about other things: the environment,
the homeless people, the animals, the rain forests
& the ozone layer. However, to Miranda, the rain
forest isn't going to hang out with her on Friday
nights.

| Gordo |
|
It's
been Gordo's dream for many years to win at the
school's Science Olympics.
To
get ready for the long distance paper airplane
contest, he works late nights to find the design
that travels the farthest. To get ready for the
slow-speed bicycle race, he stays up all night
to design an aerodynamic outfit to increase his
wind resistance and slow him down.
During
the race, he falls asleep. He realizes there is
probably a lesson to learn there somewhere, but
he is too tired to find it.

| Larry |
|
Larry
Tudgeman wins at the school's Science Olympics
every year. He tells Gordo he's the best man for
it, and he "owns" it. Gordo tells him he "owns"
him, and is the little voice in his head telling
him that he won't win again.
During
the Science Olympics week, Larry wins at the egg
drop, and loses at the long distance paper airplane
contest. He & Gordo are tied. The winner at the
slow-speed bicycle race will be the overall champion.

| Matt |
|
Matt
thinks he's the best Hall Monitor. His parents
think this is a position of honour, he should
make the best of it, and he should use his power
responsibly.
He
writes up everyone who don't follow the rules.
He hands out a large number of citations for offences.
He enjoys it, and feels he'll grow up to be a
Mall Cop.
Then
Matt writes a teacher up, and asks him to respect
his authority. The teacher says he's power-hungry,
and sends him home early.

| Jo
& Sam |
|
Jo
says there will be no clean vegetables & no dinner,
when Lizzie asks her to use less water for washing
vegetables, and also to let her give another can
of food to the homeless shelter.
She
says she already separates the laundry, when Lizzie
asks why she doesn't separate the paper from the
plastic in the garbage.
Jo
& Sam promised to support her recycling project
but don't follow through. Lizzie asks them why,
and Sam tells her to recycle her attitude.
