• Oxford University Press (OUP) is a department of the University of Oxford and the world's largest university press. As an educational publisher, we recognize the importance of our students being able to communicate effectively in English, and the impact of this in maintaining Hong Kong's status as a world-class city.
• In view of this, OUP launched the 'Speak Better English' (SBE) campaign for the first time in November 2003. This year, SBE has moved into its second phase. With the theme of 'Read it, Speak it', we will encourage students to read more, so that they can increase their grasp of vocabulary and enhance their communication skills in English.
• The reading programme, organized by OUP and co-organized by HKedCity, is one of the core activities of the SBE campaign.

• 為 此 ， 牛 津 大 學 出 版 社 於 2 0 0 3 年 1 1 月 啟 動 「 說 好 英 語 運 動 」 。 今 年 ， 第 二 階 段 的 「 說 好 英 語 運 動 」 將 以 「 Read it, Speak it 」 為 主 題 ， 藉 著 一 連 串 活 動 ， 進 一 步 鼓 勵 學 生 通 過 閱 讀 英 語 書 籍 增 進 詞 彙 ， 加 強 英 語 能 力 和 溝 通 技 巧 。
• 英 語 閱 讀 計 劃 是 「 說 好 英 語 運 動 」 其 中 一 項 主 要 活 動 ， 由 牛 津 大 學 出 版 社 主 辦 、 香 港 教 育 城 協 辦 。

• Each phase will run from the first to the last day of each month
  (*submission after 12:00am will be treated as a next-day entry)

• 每 月 的 首 天 至 每 月 的 最 後 一 天 為 一 個 階 段
  （ 於 每 日 零 晨 12 時 後 遞 交 的 閱 讀 報 告 將 視 為 翌 日 遞 交 論 。 ）

Individual Category

Students are encouraged to read books written in English and submit online book reports. Monthly prizes as well as grand prizes will be awarded to those with the highest scores, on both a monthly and a cumulative basis.

School Category

Primary schools will be awarded prizes based on the overall participation of their students, i.e.,
(1) the number of students who participate in the programme, and
(2) the total scores attained by their students.

There will be a daily update on the monthly top five students and the cumulative top three schools, so that students and schools can strive for better results.

• The monthly top five students will be awarded a prize.

• The top five students who attain the highest cumulative scores between March and June 2005 will be awarded a grand prize.

• The top three primary schools with
  (1) the largest number of participating students OR
  (2) the highest cumulative scores attained by participating students will be awarded a trophy.

• A fully completed book report will be regarded as one successful entry.
• A completed book report on a book from OUP's recommended list scores two points.
• A completed book report on a book NOT from OUP's recommended list scores one point.
  
  

  *	Only book reports on English books qualify.
  *	Students are encouraged to pay attention to grammar and spelling but these are not part of the judging criteria. Neither is the length of the report.
  *	In the case of a dead heat between students with the same monthly scores or cumulative scores, winners will be drawn by lot.
  *	In case of dispute, OUP's decision will be final.

Borrowing service of some of the recommended books will be provided by HKedCity. Please check out the book list (.xls, 59Kb) and fill in the application form (.doc, 42Kb) and fax it back to HKedCity.
