The English-Speaking Union Hong Kong (ESU (HK))

The English-Speaking Union is an independent, non-political educational charity with members in over 50 countries. Founded in 1918 in London, the English-Speaking Union was established in Hong Kong in December 2001. Its purpose is to create international understanding and human achievement through the widening use of English as the language of our global village.

ESU (HK) encourages the enjoyment and constructive use of English through educational programmes. It provides and creates cultural activities in the medium of English. It also offers different and sometimes experimental approaches to the use and enjoyment of the language. Furthermore, it promotes English in public speaking and debate and it sponsors scholarships for students, teachers and business people to attend international conferences and meetings in English-speaking countries.

Dr. Anson Chan, GBM, GCMG, JP and Dr. the Hon. Rosanna Wong, JP are the patron and president of ESU (HK) respectively.

薈 英 社 香 港 分 社

薈 英 社 是 一 個 國 際 性 、 獨 立 、 非 政 治 的 教 育 慈 善 組 織 ， 在 世 界 各 地 超 過 五 十 個 國 家 均 設 有 分 社 。 薈 英 社 創 立 於 1918 年 ， 並 於 2001 年 12 月 成 立 香 港 分 社 ， 其 創 社 理 念 是 以 英 語 為 共 同 語 言 ， 從 而 促 進 國 家 之 間 的 互 相 認 識 ， 提 昇 人 類 的 成 就 。

透 過 各 種 教 學 節 目 ， 薈 英 社 香 港 分 社 鼓 勵 普 羅 大 眾 多 用 英 語 。 透 過 舉 辦 多 個 以 英 語 為 主 的 文 化 活 動 ， 嘗 試 運 用 各 種 不 同 及 新 穎 的 方 法 ， 讓 會 員 感 受 運 用 英 語 的 樂 趣 。 此 外 ， 分 社 亦 會 舉 辨 英 語 辯 論 及 演 講 比 賽 ， 並 以 獎 學 金 形 式 贊 助 教 師 、 學 生 或 商 業 界 人 士 們 前 往 英 語 國 家 參 與 國 際 會 議 和 研 討 會 。
