With the implementation
of one of the four key tasks, "Reading
to Learn", in the Curriculum Reform, there is strong
evidence of student achievement in reading in international
studies as a result of the concerted effort to promote a reading
culture among schools. There are many school-based policies
and good practices which showcase the positive impact of reading
on student learning. Reading Fair 2009 aims to provide a learning
opportunity for all to celebrate the success, disseminate
good practices and foster professional sharing on the occasion
of World Book Day 2009.
Reading Fair 2009 promotes reading
around the themes of “Reading across the Curriculum”, “Learning
to Read” and “Promoting a Whole-school Reading Culture”.
Various professional sharing activities are held, including
two keynote speeches and more
than 40 parallel sessions where primary and secondary
schools share their good practices.
