About the Speakers

English Schools Foundation (ESF) Active English
The ESF Active English project helps local students develop their English. It provides courses for local nurseries, primary and secondary schools. These schools share our belief in learning English as a whole language and emphasizing "fun" while learning. Voluntary work in local schools are also organized.

Mr Graham Young
Mr Young has been living in Hong Kong since 1991. He has taught English in local nurseries, primary and secondary schools. Mr Young currently manages the ESF's Local Schools Project, called ESF Active English. He promotes learning English in fun and motivating ways, inside and outside the classroom.

Mr Young strongly believes that students who are independent readers will have good English, good grammar and know lots of vocabulary. Students who enjoy reading enjoy learning languages. Parents can play a vital role by sharing in the enjoyment of reading. Mr Young is now a parent. He hopes his two-year-old daughter, Jessica, will be nice to him on Fathers' Day. Like most days, he will read a bedtime story with her.
