Movie Genres Writing a Movie Review : Paragraph 1 Writing a Movie Review : Paragraph 2 Writing a Movie Review : Paragraph 3

The second paragraph of a movie review is usually a short summary of the plot of the movie. This can be quite challenging. While you need to summarise everything in the movie within a few lines, you also have to be careful not to give away too much about what happens at the end of the movie.

Task5
Here is the second paragraph describing the plot of Mr and Mrs Smith.

There are seven words missing from the paragraph (prepositions, verbs or adverbs). Complete the text by putting in the correct word.

John and Jane Smith (1) living a lie. (2) suburban parties and picking new curtains, they are contract killers (3) rival agencies who end up gunning for the same target (Adam Brody). Arguing quickly leads (4) all-out warfare, but it's in the crossfire (5) they rediscover that missing spark. Sadly (6) this stage, it's not a marriage counsellor they need (7) the entire peacekeeping force.
