Activity:

Jack and Annie meet William Shakespeare in their adventure this time. He wrote thirty-seven plays, many sonnets and other poems. A lot of people think he was the greatest writer who ever lived. It is believed that he invented many words and expressions, many of which we still use today, such as downstairs and for goodness' sakes.

Have you read any of Shakespeare's plays, such as Romeo & Juliet or Hamlet? Have watched film versions? Shakespeare in Love is a famous film about him writing Romeo & Juliet. Imagine you were Jack or Annie. What would you say if you met him? What you do think of his plays? You can read excerpts of some of his plays here before you meet him!
