When you read the story, you will find the following words. They are things found inside a pyramid.

  Verb Picture Meaning
1. Bandages Listen Bandages A long narrow piece of cloth which is wrapped around an injury of the body
2. Coffin Listen Coffin
A box in which a dead body is buried or burnt
3. Hallway Listen Hallway A long passage with doors on both sides leading into rooms
4. Hieroglyphs Listen Hieroglyphs Symbols which represent words, and which are used in some writing systems, especially those in ancient Egypt
5. Mummy Listen Mummy

A dead body preserved by being treated with special oils and wrapped with cloth.

6. Pyramid Listen Pyramid Stone structures with four triangular sloping sides. They were built in ancient Egypt to bury the bodies of kings and queens.
7. Sarcophagus Listen Sarcophagus A decorated stone coffin, used in ancient times
8. Scepter = Sceptre Listen Scepter = Sceptre An ornamental stick carried by a king or queen during ceremonies as a symbol of their authority
9. Scroll Listen Scroll A long roll of paper or similar material with writing on it
10. Skull Listen Skull The bones of the head, covering the brain
11. Torches Listen Torches A long thick stick with burning material on the top, to provide light
12. Treasure Listen Treasure Wealth or valuable things such as jewellery, money, gold coins, precious metals, etc.
