School
life
"Before I came, I thought Hong Kong students
would be really serious and hard working. The
girls in my school here do work hard but they
also have lots of fun between classes. There
are giggly and happy when the bell goes. Students
in Norway are perhaps cooler and more reserved.
My classmates have been really friendly at St.
Paul・s.
In Norway, we come to school when we have classes.
It's very flexible. There is no morning registration.
We don't wear uniforms either. That was a big
change for me.
PE
My hometown in Norway is in the mountains.
It snows a lot. My home has a fireplace. We
used to go skiing in PE lessons. I hate skiing!
I used to fall over, get hurt and wet.

My
host family
I live with my host family in Lai Chi Kok.
They・re really kind. We went to Macau recently,
which was fun.
They have a helper from the Philippines who
keeps our flat really clean. I guess it・s important
to keep homes clean in Hong Kong since there
is not much space. Nobody in Norway has helpers.
I did most of the cleaning at my home. My brother
didn・t do much! I・m worried about what it will
look like when I come home!
Hygiene
It was surprising to see posters about sneezing
and washing hands here. We don・t care so much
about hygiene in Norway. It was also funny to
see people wash chopsticks at restaurants before
eating. And then they share food with their
chopsticks.
I don・t think kids in Norway are scared of
getting dirty. Parents get vaccines for them
so they are always outdoors in summer playing
on grass.
Learning
Cantonese
I am learning Cantonese with other exchange
students. We can・t read Chinese so need to use
English words instead. Can you guess what my
teacher wrote on the board? |
