Our World As Asia's World City, Hong Kong welcomes guests from all over the world, including Canada.
Sarah Primmer has lived and studied in Hong Kong since 1998. She shares her busy lifestyle with us.

Before Hong Kong

I was born in Canada. I moved to South Korea with my mother when I was five, and then to Hong Kong again in 1998. We came Hong Kong again in 1998. This is my home.

My Mother

My mother is an English teacher in my last three schools! This has its perks ¡V I always put my stuff in her room. I could ask her for money in school. But I could never do anything wrong in any class, or do badly in a test ¡V she would find out instantly. A lot of my classmates would often complain to me if she gave them a lot of homework. Some friends called me up in the middle of the night with questions for her.

Cats

I've always loved cats. I used to have stuffed cat toys, cat blankets, pillows shaped like cats, books about cats, cats on my walls, cats on my clothes¡K After asking my mother a thousand times, we got an orange cat around Halloween ¡V and called her Pumpkin. She has been with us for nine years.

School Life

I studied at Renaissance College in Ma On Shan for the past three years. It was fun but there were too many exams at the end. Renaissance College has links with other schools in Asia. We raised money and went to paint some classrooms in Cambodia. We did drama and I was in a few plays, which was a great experience. I also learnt Mandarin at school, which is hard.

Drug Education

KELY Support Group gave a workshop in our school and I visited the Jockey Club Drug Info Centre in Admiralty. It's good for students to know about the harmful effects of drugs.

What I'll Miss About Hong Kong

I'm going to university in London soon. I will definitely miss the transportation system ¡V the MTR, the overnight buses, the red taxis. However, I won't miss some minibus drivers! I will miss the great shops. I will miss sushi bars that I can actually afford. Of course I will miss Pumpkin, my friends and my stepdad Ed. Most of all, I will miss my mother!!!
